Today everybody likes going abroad. We can choose travel or tourism. Travel is a good way of learning about the world, it teaches us many interesting things about cultures of different nationalities. We also travel to find a well-paid job or meet our family living in another country.
Tourism is the best choice for a person who wants to relax or do some sightseeing. Of course our choice also depends on money, weather and our personality – it』s evident that the person who leads an active life will never go to the seaside...
When we are sure we want to go on holiday, the next step is to decide what』s the best option for us. The person who wants to have everything organized by a travel agency will choose a package holiday. But it deprives us of fun which we have when we choose, for example, a tour. The fact is that moving from place to place is really fascinating. We can find something for sea-lovers too. For people like that the best will be a cruise or a voyage, but I think it could be a little boring to see only water all around us for a long time...
The fastest and the most comfortable is travelling by plane but, on the other hand, it's at the same time the most expensive. Buses and trains are much cheaper, but they are not as comfortable as planes and the journey is longer too. So the best is to travel by car. It』s a fast and convenient mean of transport and it』s not so expensive. Moreover, we feel independent because we decide about everything, for example when to stop for a while.
Although holidays are usually the most pleasant part of a year, they can cause some problems. The most serious one is loosing something. We should have an embassay phone number to announce that we』ve lost our passport or tickets. Another problem could be a travel sickness. To avoid it, we should take a travel sickness pill.
However it』s also significant to point some negative aspects of tourism. For example, in the place which is willingly visited by tourists, standards of people』s life are changing and the prices are rising. This place is becoming more polluted too. As we can see, tourism is not always good for our environment.
At the end I want to say that travelling and tourism, in spite of all disadvantages, are becoming more popular because they are the best forms of spending our free time.

On Oct 1st, the National Day of China, this year, dad, mom and I went to Beijing on a package tour arranged by the travel agency. I was so happy because it's the first time that I visit the Great Wall.
The Great Wall, one of the greatest wonders of the world, was enlisted in the World Heritage in 1987. Just like a gigantic dragon, it winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus stretching approximately 6,700 kilometers from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some sections are now in ruins or even entirely disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance.
We took the bus to arrive at the foot of the Great Wall. There are so many people who had been here. I began to climb the dreamed Great Wall. At first I did not feel tired, but after I stepped a thousands of steps I felt tired and thirsty. At last, we stood on the highest point of the Great Wall. A Chinese saying goes like that, 「you are not a real hero until you have climbed the Great Wall」. The landscape outside and inside the Great Wall was so beautiful in this autumn

Today is World Health Day, devoted to Road Safety. As we are gathered here today hundreds of other events are taking place around the world in over 100 countries.
Motorized road transport has changed the face of employment, trade, family life and health care, bringing benefits that were unimaginable 100 years ago. We can now get patients to emergency rooms, deliver relief at the sites of disasters and take holidays in places we would not have been able to visit before. However, the price we are paying for such benefits is too high. This is why we have chosen road safety as the theme for World Health Day 2004 and why we are launching the World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention. This report is the result of collaboration with the World Bank and a hundred or so experts and donors whom I would like to thank.
During the course of any day, the tragic news of a death on the road is delivered about 3000 times to families and friends. Fifteen thousand times, people will hear that one of their family members has survived a crash but with serious injury and perhaps lifelong disability. The shock and grief these events cause are all too well-known throughout the world. They are particularly well-known in poorer countries, where 90% of the annual deaths occur.
In richer countries, the deaths and injuries are slowly decreasing but, in the poorer ones, they are still increasing rapidly. Victims and survivors are often young, leaving families to cope with the loss of a breadwinner.
Most of these deaths, injuries and economic losses can be prevented. In many high-income countries, an established set of interventions has contributed to significant rections in the incidence and impact of road traffic injuries.
France is one such country. It has seen a 20% rection in road traffic deaths since you, President Chirac, made road safety one of your Government's key priorities in 2002 and introced a multisectoral approach to tackling the problem.
Not everyone is equally affected by the lack of road safety. In high-income countries, most victims and survivors are vehicle occupants. However, in low-income and middle-income countries in Asia the vast majority are cyclists and motorcyclists. In Africa and South America, they are mostly pedestrians and users of public transportation.
A variety of approaches are being used to tackle some of the causes, including better legislation, enforcement and information. A number of initiatives, from Colombia to Ghana, from Costa Rica to Viet Nam, show that improving road safety is possible even in lower-income settings.
Countries need to designate a lead agency in government which can coordinate the national road safety efforts. They also need to assess the problem, prepare a national road safety strategy, allocate financial and human resources, and implement specific interventions that are known to work. These include setting and enforcing laws on seat-belts, child restraints, helmets and drink driving; and promoting daytime running lights and improved visibility of all road users.
In addition to setting laws and raising awareness, countries need to formulate policies that promote safer vehicles, safer traffic management and safer road design. The countries that have been most successful have been those that have engaged many different groups from government, civil society and instry in a coordinated programme of road safety.
Every sector is important - transport, ecation, health, law enforcement - in tackling the problem. On this World Health Day, I call particularly upon the public health community to increase its contribution. By strengthening emergency services for victims, improving data collection, contributing to policies, developing prevention activities or simply ringing the alarm bell - as we are doing today - we can all make significant contributions.
Everyone can increase road safety in their private capacity as well - as drivers, passengers and pedestrians, and as members of the public who influence decision-makers. Road deaths and injuries are preventable. Let us use this World Health Day to draw attention to this fact.
This day is just a beginning. Next week, the Secretary-General of the UN and I will both address the UN General Assembly about road safety. In May, the World Health Assembly, in Geneva, is expected to adopt a resolution about it. In June, 1500 experts will gather in Vienna for the World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion. "Road safety is no accident" is the slogan for our day. It calls upon all of us to recognize that road traffic injuries can be prevented if we take the conscious decision to give safety the priority it deserves. What has happened in France in the past months is a perfect illustration of the effectiveness of this political will. Let's decide today to end the carnage on our roads.

Nowadays, people in many big cities are complaining about the heavy traffic. It has seriously influenced people』s daily life and economic development. To solve the problem, some pieces of advice are put forward. Some people suggest that more streets and roads should be built. In this way,
the traffic density can be redncedi hence speeding up the flow of buses and cars.But the new roads and streets will be filled with many cars and buses soon.
Some people advise to limit the number of bikes and cars. This can decrease the traffic flow. But on the other haad, this will affect the consumption and make buses more crowded.
In my opinion, the number of private cars should be put under control. And at the same time, buses should have their own special routes which cannot be used by other vehicles. Besides, underground train and city train should be developed quickly. ( 151 words)

有人建議限制自行車和汽車的數量，這可以減少交通的流量。但是另一方面，這會影響消費並使公共汽車更加擁擠。
我認為，應該控制私家車的數量。同時，公共汽車應該有自己的線路，這些線路不能被其它交通工具所佔用。此外，應快速發展地鐵和城市鐵路。
